About 100 Chinese language learners sat the Chinese Language Proficiency Tests (HSK) on 21 October 2012 at the Confucius Institute in Auckland. Among them, 9 school teachers from Auckland and Roturua sat the HSK exam. Some of them took it as part of their study programme – Teacher Professional development in Language supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
HSK is an internationally recognized standardized Chinese examination. This is the sixth year that Confucius Institute in Auckland has organized the exam for Chinese language learners in New Zealand. More and more people in New Zealand are now having realizing the importance of the Chinese language proficiency tests in evaluating their Chinese competence. This year, more than 20 schools organized their students to participate in the HSK/YCT trial tests.
To meet the increasing needs of Chinese language learners, 3 HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), 2 YCT (Young Learners Chinese Test) and 1 BCT (Business Chinese Test) will be held at the Confucius Institute in Auckland in 2013.
